Take part in A Cause for Tea’s Holiday Bake-Off as part of Monroe’s “Christmas on Main” celebration!
Our Holiday Bake-Off features three age brackets and three dessert categories. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place cash prizes will be awarded within each age bracket only. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes will not be awarded for each dessert category. Cakes, cookies, and candies submitted within each age bracket are judged against each other. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners within each age category will be selected by a panel of local and skilled chefs. Additionally, we will present one contestant from all of the bakers with the "People's Choice Award". This particular cash prize will be determined by event attendees who visit the dessert tent and purchase dessert samples from our contestants.
1st place in the Adult category (18+) wins $500.
1st place in the Teen category (13-17) wins $200.
1st place in the Youth category (9-12) wins $150.
"People's Choice Award" wins $100.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: Because the Holiday Bake-Off is a featured attraction of Monroe's "Christmas on Main" event and because the Holiday Bake-Off is intended to raise funds for community programs, all contestants should plan on providing a display dessert and 75 to 100 2oz dessert samples. These samples will be provided to "Christmas on Main" guests for their purchase and enjoyment. For your dessert samples, A Cause for Tea will provide all contestants with 2oz plastic cups, plastic bags, paper doilies, stickers (for sealing the plastic bags), and baking trays (for transport of samples). Contestants must visit the teahouse at 418 East Franklin Street Monroe to pick up their dessert packaging. Cakes and Candies should be placed within the provided 2oz plastic cups. Cookies do not need to be placed in the 2oz cups. ALL dessert samples should be placed on the provided paper doily and then placed inside the provided plastic bags. (Place the 2oz cup on top of the doily and inside of the bag.) Plastic bags should be sealed with an A Cause for Tea sticker that we will provide. Because our tea house is not yet open to the public, all of these packaging items will be made available to you on the front porch of our tea house.
